First Wife’s Pain Causes South Carolina Senator to Introduce Medical Marijuana Bill PDF Print E-mail

If all politicians were to experience the suffering of a loved one and they knew medical marijuana could relieve it, there would be no question that everyone who needs it, would have legal access to medical marijuana.

For example, Republican South Carolina Senator Bill Mescher, plagued for 20 years by memories of his first wife’s death, just introduced a medical marijuana bill for the state.

Mescher told the press that his first wife “died of lung cancer - a long agonizing death” and that “it’s (marijuana) a benign, benevolent help for people in agony or excruciating pain.”

Unfortunately thousands of Texans suffer the same excruciating pain from cancer. Let’s hope our politicians can feel the same compassion for them that Senator Mescher felt for his first wife.
