Political update on medical marijuana bills in the nation

 As we continue to work here in Texas to get the right    language for the medical marijuana bill that will soon be filed, our neighboring state of New Mexico is sailing along. The NM bill received a unanimous vote Thursday by the Senate Public Affairs Committee and is heading closer to a full vote.

In spite of the recent DEA raids in California and Washington State, state legislatures around the country are quietly introducing medical marijuana bills. Massachusetts, Michigan, South Carolina, Vermont and Montana all have bills filed. New Mexico and Texas will have bills filed soon.

If all politicians were to experience the suffering of a loved one and they knew medical marijuana could relieve it, there would be no question that everyone who needs it, would have legal access to medical marijuana.
For example, Republican South Carolina Senator Bill Mescher, plagued for 20 years by memories of his first wife’s death, just introduced a medical marijuana bill for the state.
